Carpentry covers both ends of a remodel: the framing nobody sees and the trim everybody does. We frame new walls and openings, build up headers where a wall is coming out, repair joists and subfloor, and correct the framing problems that turn up once the drywall is off — a doubled-up jack stud missing, a header undersized for the span, a sill plate that has been wet for years.

At the finish end, we hang doors, run baseboards and casing, build shelving and built-ins, wrap columns, and rebuild the exterior trim and fascia that Houston's weather works on hardest. Sharp miters, tight scarf joints and doors that close on the latch without being pushed — that is the standard we are aiming at.

Look at the structure
Before anything comes out, we work out what is carrying load and what is not, and what has to be supported temporarily while we work.

Frame it right
Correct headers, proper bearing, straight and plumb walls. Framing errors do not stay hidden — they show up in the drywall and the door reveals later.

Repair what is rotten
Wet or damaged wood gets cut out and replaced back to sound material, and we deal with where the water was coming from.

Finish carpentry
Trim, doors and built-ins installed, filled, caulked and sanded ready for paint.
