Carpentry & Framing in Houston, TX

Framing, finish carpentry and repairs — from a new wall opening to baseboards that meet in the corner properly.

Carpentry covers both ends of a remodel: the framing nobody sees and the trim everybody does. We frame new walls and openings, build up headers where a wall is coming out, repair joists and subfloor, and correct the framing problems that turn up once the drywall is off — a doubled-up jack stud missing, a header undersized for the span, a sill plate that has been wet for years.

At the finish end, we hang doors, run baseboards and casing, build shelving and built-ins, wrap columns, and rebuild the exterior trim and fascia that Houston's weather works on hardest. Sharp miters, tight scarf joints and doors that close on the latch without being pushed — that is the standard we are aiming at.

What the job includes

  • Interior wall framing, new openings and header work
  • Load-path and structural repairs identified during remodels
  • Floor joist, subfloor and sill plate repair
  • Interior door hanging, casing, baseboards and crown
  • Built-ins, shelving, mantels, benches and window seats
  • Exterior trim, fascia, soffit and wood rot replacement

Step by step

Our Carpentry Process

No surprises, and nothing that matters left until it is too late to change.
  1. 01

    Look at the structure

Before anything comes out, we work out what is carrying load and what is not, and what has to be supported temporarily while we work.

  2. 02

    Frame it right

Correct headers, proper bearing, straight and plumb walls. Framing errors do not stay hidden — they show up in the drywall and the door reveals later.

  3. 03

    Repair what is rotten

Wet or damaged wood gets cut out and replaced back to sound material, and we deal with where the water was coming from.

  4. 04

    Finish carpentry

Trim, doors and built-ins installed, filled, caulked and sanded ready for paint.

Why it matters

Why homeowners choose us for carpentry

  • Framing and finish from one crew

The people who framed the opening are the people who trim it out, so the reveals and the returns line up.

  • Honest structural calls

If a wall is load-bearing or a repair is bigger than it looked, you hear it right away with a price, not after it is opened up.

  • Rot fixed at the cause

Replacing rotten fascia without fixing the drip edge above it just buys you two years. We chase the water first.

Across the Houston area

Carpentry & Framing in your part of town

Gulf Coast humidity and wind-driven rain are hard on exterior wood, so fascia, soffit and door-frame rot is common everywhere from Baytown and Deer Park to the wooded lots in Memorial and The Woodlands. Interior framing changes — opening a wall between a kitchen and a den — suit the older ranch houses close to our southwest Houston base.
